|The "Complaints Procedure For Staff Employed in Schools" would be followed in situations where a member, with the help and support of a local union officer, wanted to bring a complaint of bullying or harassment against someone at school. This policy has been negotiated between the LEA and Union Representatives. Members should always raise their concerns with their union first.|
POINTS TO NOTE
Harassment is any unwanted, improper or inappropriate behaviour, practices or conduct of a sexual, racial or intimidating nature which causes offence or hurt.
The LEA recognises two main types of harassment in schools involving members of staff:
harassment of an employee by a pupil or parent etc,
harassment of an employee by another employee
For racial harassment involving pupils, please seek further guidance as required from the Pupil Support Service.ACTION REQUIRED
Harassment of a school employee by a pupil, parent etc.
Record the incident on a Violence to Staff Report Form and return to Human Resources.
Headteachers should discuss with the victim any concerns they have regarding the incident and determine any future action required.
For advice on courses of action, you may wish to consult your union or an Occupational Safety Adviser at the Occupational Safety Unit.
